Copy the complete Raw filter string
- 01Open the filter source and choose its Raw view, not the rendered page or a shortened preview.
- 02Copy from the first character through the final padding or == ending when present. Do not let chat, Reddit or a browser translate or wrap the string.
- 03Paste into the actual Loot Filter import field. A Highlight Filter code belongs in the highlight panel, not the normal loot-filter panel.
- 04Save the filter under a new name, close and reopen the filter menu, then select the saved preset.
Use the file route when paste fails
- On Windows, create or save one filter in-game first, then locate the generated .txt file in the Hero Siege hs2saves folder and replace it with your complete filter file.
- On Linux, the path depends on Steam/Flatpak packaging. Recent reports mention ~/.var/app/com.valvesoftware.Steam/config/Hero_Siege/hs2saves for Flatpak Steam; verify the folder by saving a filter in-game first.
- On handheld Linux devices, use the same “save once, find the generated file, replace it, reopen the game” approach rather than guessing a universal path.
- Keep a backup copy before editing. A valid filter can still show more items than expected if its normal visibility rules are broad.
Know the current PS5 limitation
Recent Season 10 reports say PS5 still has trouble with long import/export strings and saving complex filters. PC-to-PS5 transfer may work for linked accounts in some setups, but it is not a guaranteed console workflow.
If the console cannot import or persist a preset, make a compact in-game filter, enable only the most important tiers and affixes, and treat external portal tooling as a future possibility rather than a current promise.
Fast diagnosis checklist
- Wrong panel: normal Loot Filter versus Highlight Filter.
- Truncated code: the ending is missing or a chat platform split the string.
- Wrong preset: the imported file exists but another character or preset is active.
- Wrong folder: save a test filter in-game and search for that exact filename.
- Expected behavior mismatch: one selected affix can make an item visible even when other stats are not useful.
Questions players ask
Why does the import button say invalid code?
Most often the code was copied from a formatted page, truncated, or pasted into the highlight panel. Use the Raw view and copy the entire string.
Where are Linux loot filters stored?
The path depends on the Steam package. For Flatpak Steam, recent players report ~/.var/app/com.valvesoftware.Steam/config/Hero_Siege/hs2saves; save a filter in-game first to confirm your exact folder.
Can PS5 import PC loot filters?
Current Season 10 reports still describe console length and save limitations. PC-to-PS5 transfer may work in linked-account setups, but direct console import is not dependable.
